The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at NYU Winthrop Hospital, Mineola, NY, is now accepting applications for its 1-year Ob/Gyn Hospitalist Fellowship program starting July 1, 2021.
The Department of Ob/Gyn at NYU Winthrop Hospital has an established, successful Ob/Gyn hospitalist fellowship since 2013 under the Directorship of Dr. Joseph Cioffi, one of the most experienced and seasoned Ob/Gyn hospitalists in the U.S. Clinical training is also provided by several other faculty members who will work closely with the fellow. The program offers the fellow the experience to manage critical care obstetric and gynecologic conditions and emergencies and prepare him/her for a hospitalist career.
NYU Winthrop Hospital is the Clinical Campus for the NYU Long Island School of Medicine. NYU Winthrop Hospital is a tertiary (Level III) care center with over 5,000 deliveries and over 3,300 surgical gynecological procedures annually. NYU Winthrop hospital has its own independent fully-accredited Ob/Gyn residency program (5 residents per PGY level) and an independent Fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
In addition to the Ob/Gyn Hospitalist Division, the Department has the following divisions: Maternal-Fetal Medicine (10 full-time faculty members), General Ob/Gyn (23), Gynecologic Oncology (5), Urogynecology (2), Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility (7) and Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery (2).
Applicants for the Ob/Gyn Hospitalist Fellowship Program must be graduates of a 4-year accredited Ob/Gyn residency and hold a valid NY license or otherwise be legally authorized (e.g., hold a limited permit), to practice medicine in the State of New York. Candidates must be Board certified or Board eligible and demonstrate a strong commitment to patient care as well as resident and medical student education.
