The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) is searching for an outstanding full-time Board Certified/Eligible Laborist to join the Division of General Obstetrics & Gynecology in Norfolk, Virginia.
EVMS (http://www.evms.edu), founded by a grassroots effort by the local community, has provided education in medicine, biomedical sciences and other health professions in southeastern Virginia since 1973. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is one of the leading departments of EVMS, providing advanced and comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic services to the community. Inpatient coverage of obstetrical care is provided at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital (SNGH), a quaternary level hospital and flagship hospital of Sentara Health Systems. Obstetrical care is shared between the divisions of general obstetrics and maternal-fetal medicine and currently include 2 laborists. Medical students, residents and fellows actively participate in obstetrical care. SNGH is the high risk obstetric referral hospital for Southeastern Virginia and Northern North Carolina with about 3500 deliveries annually and 650 maternal transports per year.
We are seeking an academic OB laborist to join our multidisciplinary team. Ideal Candidates will demonstrate strength in the following areas;
- Team based Perinatal Care with emphasis on safety, quality and communication
- Experience in inpatient obstetric care of high-risk pregnancies
- Strong surgical skills
- Healthcare Policy for Provision of Obstetrical Care
- Experience and interest in fellow, resident and medical student education and training.
